Guided tour of the house and gardens
Inspired by French and Italian models, the powerful Solothurn patrician Johann Viktor von Besenval had Waldegg Castle built as a summer residence between 1682 and 1686. With the castle, the avenues extending far into the landscape and the gardens, Besenval created a Baroque “Gesamtkunstwerk” that is now considered a cultural heritage of national importance.
On the guided tour, you will discover the magnificently furnished rooms of Waldegg Castle and learn exciting stories about the castle’s former residents and their relationships with the French kings.
